Lionel Messi who plays for Spanish champions Barcelona is now topping the list of the highest paid footballers in the world as he earns £7.3 million every month.

Messi's income according to the report nearly double that of big rival Cristiano Ronaldo who is playing for Juventus as he takes home £4.1 million monthly.

He recently signed a new deal in November 2017 where he earns around £1.7m per week - according to the latest annual salary report from L'Equipe.

Cristiano Ronaldo who recently turned 34 occupies second position on the list of the highest paid players in the world.

Atletico Madrid and France international Antoine Griezmann is the third richest player in the world going by his income as he earns £2.9 million every month.

Brazilian star Neymar is occupying fourth position on the standings as his mega million move from Barcelona to Paris-Saint-Germain helped him.

Luis Suarez is placed fifth on the table, while Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is occupying 10th position on the standings with £1.4 million.

Ozil was linked with a move away from the Emirates stadium before the close of the January transfer window and he could be on his way of the club this summer.

Earlier, Gictz News  had reported how Mesut Ozil who plays for Premier League side Arsenal reportedly turned down a loan move to join French club Paris-Saint-Germain before the January transfer window closed.

Paris-Saint-Germain were looking for a good forward who will replace injured Brazilian star Neymar who will be out of action until April.

And according to the latest report, the former Real Madrid winger is not interested in leaving the Premier League for a move to France.
